About Me

Jennifer Cooper, LPCC

Therapist | IFS Level 2 | Trauma-Informed | Neurodiversity-Affirming
Perinatal & Spiritual Trauma | Teens, Adults & Couples

Sometimes we need focused care and support to cope with life’s complex challenges. We are not meant to navigate painful or confusing experiences alone, and change occurs when our experiences are met with compassionate understanding and safe connection. Whatever brings you to counseling, you will find an accepting, non-judgmental, and collaborative space to explore your concerns

My Philosophy & Approach

Because each client brings unique concerns and strengths to counseling, I am drawn to an integrative approach incorporating methods that are trauma-informed, neurodiverse-affirming, and collaborative. As a Level II trained Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist, I support clients as they make sense of their inner world and shift from feeling “stuck” to experiences of greater clarity, wholeness, and fulfillment.

My work is further shaped by attachment theory, Allender’s Narrative Focused Trauma Care, Neuro-Affective Relationship Model (NARM), and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). These methods serve to name important aspects of your story, recognize how they have shaped you, make sense of confusing or painful realities, and cultivate connection within yourself and with others. Stories of harm are processed with hope and move us to experiences of freedom and healing.

What to Expect in Therapy

It takes courage to address the pain and struggles you are facing. My role is to provide a safe and inviting place to address those struggles with honesty and hope. We are complex beings, and every part of you is welcome here.

At the beginning of the counseling process, you will have the opportunity to share your concerns, decide if we are a good fit, and identify goals that are meaningful to you. As the expert on your life, you will get to set the direction of the work and decide the pace of the journey. While the road to healing is not always comfortable, you will not walk it alone.

Together, we will explore the concerns that brought you to counseling, understand how they relate to your personal story, and collaborate on steps toward healing and restoration.

While the counseling process addresses difficulties, it is also a place to identify strengths, grow in self-compassion, rest, laugh, notice progress, and celebrate goodness.

Professional Experience and Training

I hold a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and a second Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My first career as a speech-language pathologist took me into hospitals, clinics, and schools, where I worked with children, teens, adults, and families. I have also spent over 15 years mentoring teens, and remain passionate about supporting adolescents and their parents.

As a counselor, I have had the privilege of working with teens, adults, and couples in a variety of settings—providing care to expatriates overseas, supporting gifted adults at the Gifted Development Center, offering trauma-informed care at a private practice in Colorado, and walking alongside teen mothers at Hope House. Across these experiences, I’ve seen how people
thrive when they are deeply known, supported, and given space to heal.

A Bit About Me

I’m a lifelong learner, a fan of good podcasts, audiobooks, and family movie nights, and am happiest when outside with my family and our dog, Poppy. After living in several cities across the US, South America and Asia as an ex-pat, I now call Colorado home. I love the mountains and the chance to hike, travel, and then return to the rhythms of home life.
